Hindi Literary Society, one of the esteemed and renowned society of St. Xavier's College (Autonomous), Kolkata is incessantly putting its unflagging efforts to promote and preserve the rich Indian culture and heritage. Through ages the society has been looking after the cultural aspect of the college by keeping the flame of nationality ablaze in the heart of Xaverians. The Hindi Literary Society, promoting the cultural value of Hindi, the official language of India.
The Hindi Literary Society like every year organised its first event in the academic year 2016-17, 'HINDI DIWAS' on 15th September 2016. The pre-inauguration meeting was graced with the presence of Rev. Dr. J. Felix Raj, S.J., Principal, Rev. Dr. Dominic Savio, S.J., Rector, Rev. Arulappan Rayappan, S.J., Rev. Peter Arockiam, S.J., Rev. P. Paul Carlose, S.J., Treasurer, Rev. M. S. Arockiasamy, S.J., Rev. Anil Gomes, Prof. Ashis Mitra, Prof. Swapan Banerjee and Prof. Argha Banerjee. Students from NGO 'Ektara' were part of the event, which lifted the spirits of the show with their Welcome song.
Hindi Diwas witnessed enthusiastic participation from students across various departments of the college in the events - Extempore, Quiz and Cultural Walk. On this day all participating students expressed their respect and affection for India's most widely spoken language - Hindi. With the blessings of all dignitaries and with the support and guidance of our Deputy President Prof. Sadhana Jha, the event was a grand success.
Hindi Literary Society is going to publish literary magazine "BAHURANG" & will organise inter-college fest "VIVIDHA" in coming days.
Blanket Distribution 28th December 2016
With the blessings of Father Rector, Rev. Dr. Dominic Savio, SJ; Father Principal, Rev. Dr. John Felix Raj, SJ and the support and guidance of our teachers Prof. Sadhana Jha (Deputy President, HLS) and Prof. Kiran Singh, Hindi Literary Society of St. Xavier's College, Kolkata distributed new blankets to 50 children of the orphanage, Siddharth United Social Welfare Mission, Chinar Park, Kolkata-157 on 28th December 2016. There is indeed no greater joy than the joy of giving, which is an inherent element of the Xaverian spirit.
