NIHIL ULTRA: Nothing Beyond

Sports

Sports Working Committee 2015-16

It has been another year full of great achievements and an all-time high participation of students in games and sports. Partaking in sporting activities has left for the students - skills for a lifetime. Skills sharpened for the student outside the classroom, are abilities which include - leadership, teamwork, responsibility and respect. The five Ss' of sports training being: stamina, speed, strength, skill, and the greatest ofcourse is spirit which undoubtedly keeps the St. Xavier's College teams going. The great gusto with which the teams cry out "XAVIER'S!" before the start of every match pumps that extra adrenalin into them. This cry which rents the air embodies a great power which keeps the teams upbeat through long hard seasons. Hence the result and hence possible, this ensuing report. It is really not easy for the students to play competitive sport along with a challenging academic schedule and it is with great satisfaction I can say that these students have done well for themselves. Not only are their results and placements worthy but many are pursuing post graduate degree programmes which they have got into also due to their academic merit and sporting abilities.

Running a yearlong programme of sports in the College requires planning and execution which our students have now become very proficient at. The success of all our events is due to the hard work put in by Sports Secretaries Jasmine Rao and Harsh Gurnani supported superbly by Yash Toshniwal, Steffy Jose, Jastej Singh, Arvaan Mogrelia and Sukrit Saha among many others. The emotional bond our Coaches have developed with our teams reflects in the performances.
