Xaverian Quizzing and Debating Society

We are proud to report that in this academic session, the society has moved ahead in its objective to further cultivate the rich debating culture of this college.

Our members participated in the NUJS Parliamentary Debate 2015,an open national level debate. One of our first year teams were runners up in the Novice Break category at the tournament and Mayukh Bhadra Chowdhury placed 12th out of over 120 adjudicators.

Our team broke into the final round at the NLS Debate in Bangalore in March 2015.

We also participated in Prologue, a parliamentary debate organised by Presidency University and the Heritage Institute of Technology.

After selecting 22 new members out of over 180 applicants in the second week of July, the society has been engaged in training and preparing them for representation at various city and national level debates.

The society represented the college at the Derozio Memorial Debate organised by Presidency University. The team comprising Vanshaj Jain, Pratap Chowdhury and Tanuj Gupta reached the semi finals of the tournament while Aakash Bhattacharya placed 4th overall on the adjudicators' tabs.

We were proud to organise Dialectic'15, an event of our own for the first time in the society's history. We saw participation from over 30 teams over the course of 6 days of intense debating from 13th to 18th September.

Lastly, we participated at the CNLU Parliamentary Debate held at Patna from 9th to 11th October, 2015. We are proud to report that our team comprising Aakash Bhattacharya and Avigat Bawa were winners at the tournament while Komal Bhargava won the best adjudicator prize. Another team- Debayan Mitra, Yashoroop Dey and Sagnik Sarkar were semi finalists while Kaamila Patherya placed 4th on the adjudicators' tab.

The Xaverian Debating Society plans to continue to represent the college at top level debates across the country.
