A full- sized marble statue of St. Francis Xavier, the patron saint of St. Xavier's College, was unveiled in the front courtyard of the Park Street institution on Wednesday.

The unveiling marked the 462nd death anniversary of the saint. Among those who attended the programme were students and faculty members of both St. Xavier's College and St. Xavier's Collegiate School, including rector Father Dominic Savio ( centre) , Father Felix Raj ( right) , the principal of the college, and Father Benny Thomas, the principal of the school. " This statue is the recognition of the patron saint of the college, so that he sees everyone coming in and out of the college gates. He has been guarding and supporting us for 154 years and I hope he continues to do it in the future as well," said Felix Raj..
