Candidate must hold a bachelor's degree in Computer Science / Computer Application / IT and must have understanding of Database, Web Architecture and Stack Development with thorough knowledge of SQL, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, jQuery and Angular. He/she should be able to program servers like PHP, ASP, Python or Node. Knowledge of Photoshop-AI will be an added advantage. Additionally must possess design skills, creativity, analytical skills, problem solving skills and time management skills. He/she must be up-to-date on latest trends and technology.

Vividhaa 2025: "Sapne Jahan Dastak De" at St. Xavier's College, Kolkata
Vividhaa, the annual flagship event of the Hindi Literary Society of St. Xavier's College (Autonomous), Kolkata, will be held on 25th and 26th February 2025. This year, it takes a grand leap as an inter-college festival, bringing together participants from over 15 prestigious institutions to celebrate the beauty of the Hindi language and its rich cultural heritage. The inaugural ceremony on 25th February 2025 at St. Xavier's College, Kolkata, will mark the beginning of an exciting journey through literature, art, and entertainment.
Vividhaa'25 is packed with 7 spectacular events, each offering a unique experience. Safarnama, a Bollywood Quiz Competition, will engage movie enthusiasts in an exciting battle of cinematic knowledge. Qala, a Creative Writing and Doodling Competition, will provide a platform for artistic expression. Tark Vitark, a Newsroom Debate Competition, will challenge participants to showcase their argumentative skills and critical thinking. Afsaney, an Open Mic Event, will welcome storytellers, poets, and performers to share their narratives. In addition, two online events, Chitrakatha, a Photography Competition, and Maskhara, a Meme-Making Competition, will allow participants to showcase their creativity virtually. A major highlight this year is Tarang, a Bollywood Group Dance Competition, happening for the first time, promising high-energy performances and enthusiastic participation.

The University of Calcutta emerged champions among 26 other Universities in the AIU East Zone Inter University Chess Championship (MEN) 2024-2025 in Jharkhand, Ranchi from 03/02/2025 to 08/02/2025.
Soham Bhattacharyya of CMSA Department, 2nd year, scored 6.5/7 and was given the trophy for the best player on Board No 3 scoring the highest points in the whole event. With this University of Calcutta gets selected for All India National Inter University Chess Championship tentatively scheduled in the 1st week of April 2025

Rev. Dr. Dominic Savio, SJ, Felicitated with the Film Federation of India Achiever’s Award at MECON 2025
Kolkata, 31st January 2025 – Today marks a momentous occasion for all Xaverians as Rev. Dr. Dominic Savio, SJ, Principal of St. Xavier’s College (Autonomous), Kolkata, was honoured with the Film Federation of India Achiever’s Award at MECON 2025: Media and Entertainment Convention. The prestigious event was hosted by the Film Federation of India in collaboration with the Techno India Group at Fairfield by Marriott, Kolkata.
Rev. Dr. Dominic Savio, SJ, was recognized for his outstanding contributions to higher education in the fields of Media, Research, and Mass Communication, as well as his unwavering commitment to societal development through educational excellence.
In his acceptance speech, Rev. Dr. Dominic Savio, SJ, dedicated this award to the students, staff, alumni and all stakeholders of the college. He highlighted the legacy of Jesuit priests and their significant contributions to the media and entertainment sector over the decades. Additionally, he shared his vision for the upcoming Media Hub and Research Facility of St. Xavier’s College at E.M. Bypass, Anandapur.
The award was presented to him by Mr. Babul Supriyo and Mr. Sujit Bose, Ministers of State, Government of West Bengal, in the presence of Mr. Firdausul Hasan, President of the Film Federation of India. The convention was graced by eminent personalities from the Film, Media, and Communication industries, along with 300 students from across Kolkata, making it a truly inspiring event.
Sahyog 2025
Sahyog, a yearly social service event facilitated by the St. Xavier’s College National Cadet Corps (SXCNCC), was conducted on 2nd February 2025 (Sunday).
82 cadets of both SXCNCC Main and Raghabpur Campus visited the Karuna Bhavan - Dum Dum, old age home, where we had the chance to interact with the less fortunate. The program commenced with group song which portrayed rich tapestry of Indian culture. Recitation, solo dance and group dance were also part of the cultural activity performed by the cadets.
Amidst laughter and conversations, an interactive session ensued, transcending the barriers of age and background. At the end of the day the cadets humbly served food to the residents, fostering bonds of camaraderie and compassion. As the draw came to an end, the cadets extended gestures of generosity, donating a laptop, blankets, clothes and essentials. The entire SXCNCC contingent generated a donation amount of Rs. 10,000. Sahyog exemplifies how one act of kindness can have a significant impact on the world at large.
