At the epicentre of Kolkata's happiest street lies the institution of hope, faith, belief and knowledge. The St. Xavier's College (Autonomous), Kolkata indeed has always occupied the centre stage in the arena of education in this part of the world. For 155 years now every member of the Xaverian family has been committed to its motto of 'Nihil Ultra', meaning nothing beyond.

It is this Xaverian motto that has been the guiding force behind every initiative undertaken by St. Xavier's College Students' Council (SXCSC) over the years as an attempt to be a valuable contributor to the institution's rich tradition and heritage.

The new St. Xavier's College Students' Council for the session of 2015-16 assumed office on the 23rd of July, 2015. Team SXCSC comprises of:

Working Committee Members: Samarth Shah, Harshita Bajaj, Rashika Jain, Ambreen Mehmood, Sarthak Gupta, Sanjeeban Poddar, Harsh Gupta and Srijan Bag.

The new council has strived to set highest standards of efficiency since the first day of assuming office. Our vision is to identify various talents across all departments of SXC and provide them the best platform within and outside the college.

  • The council began with celebrating the auspicious occasion of Reverend Father Rector's birthday on 24thJuly. The council presented a floral tribute, a symbol of happiness and amity to Father Rector who has been the source of inspiration and support to SXCSC.

  • The General Secretary and Assistant General Secretary undertook a surprise inspection of the college canteen. Contrary to complaints received about hygiene, the council took note of the fact that the canteen is amongst one of the cleanest spots in the campus. However, some problems regarding space constraint, counters, electrical heating,flooring and waste disposal were reported.

  • SXCSC organised Groove'15, a Salsa workshop on the 24th and 25th of August, in association with the Xaverian Academy of Dance and Music to celebrate the spirit of the dance form in the Main Parlour. Trainers from MAMBO CITY, Satyaki Saha and Sovit were called to enlighten the students with the dance form, SALSA. A total of 80 students enrolled for the workshop which was divided into two slots. The first day of the workshop consisted of the trainers teaching the students the basic footwork of salsa and very basic partner work of SALSA. The second day of the workshop consisted of the dance form BACHATA and "KIZOMBA".

  • The council celebrated the auspicious occasion of Father Principal's birthday on the 26th of August. A small musical arrangement was made to celebrate the day at the principal's office. The council thanks Father Principal for being the guiding light in the lives of the 8000+ students of SXC.

  • SXCSC celebrated Teachers Day on 4th September, 2015 in association with St Xavier's College Alumni Association. An inaugural address was followed by a cultural presentation made by XADAM. Prof M. Hanifand Mr. H R Sharma were felicitated by the college management and alumni. After words of encouragement by Father Principal and Vote of Thanks by the secretary of SXCAA, the professors and dignitaries joined in for lunch at the gymnasium which was followed by a football match between the teaching and non-teaching staff of SXC

  • The first edition of XPL Chapter 2 was held on 12th Sept 2015 and was a grand success where 8 teams sweat it out in the college field and the Team 'Eduaims United' emerged as the champions of the annual football event. XPL follows a pattern similar to the world's premier sporting events such as IPL andEPL, where individuals bid for teams that take part in the competition.

  • SXCSC organised X-Celsior on the 5th and 6th of October, a first of its kind of intra-college fest that celebrates talents acrossspectrums of entrepreneurship, management and public speaking. It included events such as the Wolf of Wall Street, Game of Thrones, Amazing Race, IPL Auction, Bazinga, X-Suits, X-Cite, Connect the Dots and Parliamentary Debate. The prelims of the events were held from 29th October and carried on up to the 4th of November. X-Celsior received 2000+ registrations in a couple of days post the announcement of the event. The brochure and poster for Xavotsav'16 was unveiled along with the council T-Shirt during the opening ceremony of XCelsior. SXCSC takes pride in informing that X-Celsior was a grand success.
