The Postgraduate and Research Department of Microbiology, Biotechnology, Physics, Computer Science, English, Bengali, Political Science and Commerce are involved in regular publication in peer reviewed journals. The details of the publication are published on a regular basis in annual year book. Some of the publications are in very high impact journals particularly from the department of Biotechnology, Physics and Microbiology. There is also adequate collaboration between different departments like Microbiology, Chemistry, Statistics, Maths and these interdisciplinary papers are also getting published in world acclaimed journals. There has also been remarkable contribution in terms of patents. Dr. Arup Kumar Mitra from the department of Microbiology has already published 3 patents, Dr. Sanjib Ganguly from the department of Chemistry has 1 global patent. Dr. Sudeshna Shyam Choudhury from the department of Microbiology has 1 patent. The Research and Development Cell has been created in the college to foster working research involving teachers and students. This has also attracted CSIR funds from industry and that has already been spent for building of research facilities. There is a separate office which looks after International Collaboration with other universities and institutions. Following the trend of Government of India, there are two Skill Idia Programs running in the college under the PMKVY 4.0 between St. Xavier’s College (Autonomous), Kolkata and LSSSDC with active support from an industry called SHRM biotechnology. These programmes are especially meant for developing entrepreneurs and also will aid in student placement. A start up has been initiated in the department of Microbiology called Rhizospheri-X Pvt. Ltd working in the field of bio-organic agriculture and the team consists of team of research scholars and old students of the college.
