ABOUT US

IGNOU Study Centre 2802 – ST. Xavier’s Kolkata

Indira Gandhi National Open University Study Centre Code 2802 was established at St. Xavier’s College, Kolkata in the year 1987 under the leadership of Late Principal Rev. Fr. J.A. D’Souza, S.J.

Prof. Amitabha Mukherjee was appointed as the founder coordinator of IGNOU-2802. The College had MOU with IGNOU HQ to offer 2 years MBA Programmes. Initially IGNOU-2802 office was inaugurated in Room No. 7 (Ground Floor) of College building and later has been allotted an office room in the Jubilee Building.

In 1994 IGNOU launched a new 3 years PG programme “Master in Computer Applications (MCA)”. It was one very successful programme of St. Xavier’s College. In entire Eastern Region of India St. Xavier’s College was the only centre started to offer 3 years MCA programme in Distance Education mode. Professor Amitabha Mukherjee retired from Coordinator post in 1995. IGNOU appointed Dr. Asoke Nath as the coordinator of IGNOU-2802 w.e.f May 1995. The Study Centre facilitated various courses from time to time as per the availability of resources and the directives from the Regional Centre Kolkata. The courses facilitated here includes Certificate courses, Diploma Courses, MBA and MCA programmes.

IGNOU appointed Dr. Madhu Agnihotri as the coordinator of IGNOU 2802 w.e.f. June’22.

At present the study centre facilitates all the MBA programmes.
