ABOUT US
The Xavier's Commerce Society is one of the most prestigious and sought after societies in St. Xavier's College, Kolkata. It embodies the drive and vigour that portrays a Xaverian and pursues to impart a multitude of opportunities and apertures to aid students in gaining enriching corporate exposure and experience. The society, with every initiative it conducts, seeks to enhance, augment as well as advance its capacities with each passing day. Since its inception in 2006, it has weathered every obstacle in its wake, as well as shifting to an entirely online medium for conducting its events, while also being able to adapt to a hybrid mechanism; and ultimately transitioning back to an offline medium - all of which underlines its dedication and determination to fulfil its objectives.
By organising holistic events throughout the academic year, which focuses on all aspects of modern-day management, the society ensures that every student is taught practical lessons as it believes that education should transcend academic books.
The President of the society is Rev. Dr. Dominic Savio, SJ, Principal. In the capacity of Advisors, the society has Rev. Dr. Joseph Kulandai, SJ, Vice-Principal (B.Com. Morning), Rev. Dr. Peter Arockiam, SJ, Vice-Principal (B.Com-Evening), Dr. Amitava Roy, Dean (B.Com. Morning) and Dr. Soheli Ghose, Dean (B.Com- Evening). The society is guided by our Deputy President, Dr. Anulekha Banerjee and mentored by Dr. Sumona Ghosh. The Joint Secretaries for this academic year are Aaryaman Jain and Disha Khandelwal. The society actively looks forward to engaging and appraising students of its undertakings through its social media handles, including its Facebook page, which has over 25,000 followers; Instagram page, which has over 4,000 followers; LinkedIn page, which has over 4,000 followers and various other platforms as well.
OUR EVENTS -
INSIGNIA
Insignia is the largest national level inter-college management festival at the undergraduate level in east India and the flagship event of the Xavier’s Commerce Society. It is a three-day event with a diverse range of events spanning across the various spheres of management. Hosting participants from the country's premier commerce, management and economics colleges and beyond, Insignia provides students with an extraordinary opportunity to demonstrate their business acumen, refine their problem-solving abilities, and mould themselves to become tomorrow's corporate leaders.
Insignia has also been host to eminent personalities in the past such as Tanmay Bhat, Nishant Suri, Rahul Dua, Radhika Apte, Piyush Mishra, Jatin Sarna, Raj Shamani, Biswa Kalyan Rath, Kanan Gill, Kenny Sebastian, TVF Pitchers, Rahul Bose, Samay Raina, Aakash Gupta, Gurleen Pannu, Justice Markandey Katju and Papa CJ to name a few, who have inspired the youth of this generation to great extents.
CORPORATE PRODIGY
Today's youth are tomorrow's future. With this vision, the society expands its horizons beyond college. Corporate Prodigy, an event designed exclusively for the high school students, aims to give them the experience of undergraduate level corporate events even before entering the college. Prestigious schools across the country compete with each other to prove themselves as young ambassadors. They also get an opportunity to head-start their corporate careers.
INCEPTION
For the newly inducted first years, Inception is the most important management simulation. At Xavier's Commerce Society, we attempt to put students' critical thinking and composure to test. The simulations give them a taste of the business world and what they can expect if they continue on their current path. This event has established a reputation as one of the most competitive events at St. Xavier's College (Autonomous), Kolkata, and we will continue to do everything we can to retain the elite status of the event.
INDUCTIONS
Inductions is an exclusive recruitment program designed for the first- year students of St. Xavier's College as a doorway to join the Xavier's Commerce Society, and be a part of this distinguished legacy. Each individual is assessed through rounds structured to identify and form a group of individuals who reflect sheer will and determination, to steer the wheel of fortune of the society.
INNOVISION
Innovision is a series of seminars that acts as a guide for students from various streams to explore career opportunities and establish a better understanding of the corporate world. In a week-long session, eminent personalities from an array of fields conduct interactive careeroriented seminars to impart their knowledge of the industry with years of experience in hands. Successful names in the corporate world have been a part of our endeavour over the years like PwC, Tata Digital, Reliance Industries, Deloitte, KPMG, to name a few
CASE CONSTRUE
Case Construe, a case-study based event, is the precursor to Insignia, where students from all around the globe compete to prove their mettle in the various realms of the corporate world. It is an event conducted exclusively on an online platform testing students on various aspects of business with an opportunity to win remunerative cash prizes.
X-PEDITION
The society strongly believes in the practicality of the knowledge gained and has always emphasised on continual learning beyond the four walls of the classroom. Keeping the same in mind, it also organises visits to the factories of renowned companies, so that the students can understand the magnitude of work that goes on behind the scenes. Taking education beyond the campus, X-Pedition strives to provide the students with an insight into reality.
INAYAT
The Xavier's Commerce Society organises 'Inayat' – a transformative 3-day social drive that radiates kindness in multiple ways. From the initial food distribution, where over 250 meals were shared with those in need, to the tender moments spent at an old age home fostering intergenerational connections, and culminating in a joy-filled carnival for girls at an underprivileged school, every act became a ripple of positivity. 'Inayat' is not just an event, it showcases the powerful effect of everyone's kindness. We create a collage of joy and love, proving that even small acts can make a huge difference.
INTELLEGENTSIA
Intelligentsia is a panel discussion that brings together eminent minds and icons from the world of business and beyond to discuss a topic of great relevance in recent events. It promises to surpass expectations and create a phenomenal impact on the audiences with the motion being chosen so as to complement the theme of society's annual journal, Youthink, which is launched in this event.
YOUTHINK
Youthink is an annual journal having the distinction of its own ISSN ID [2347-6222] and thus, making it an internationally recognized journal. In the past, it has also been acknowledged by the Honourable Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi. The journal embarked on our expedition in 2006 by publishing notable articles of students, professors, as well as distinct personalities worldwide. It also features the interviews of dignitaries across different walks of life. Previously, it has collaborated with luminaries like Alia Bhatt, Sadhguru, Abhinav Bindra, Boman Irani, Shahrukh Khan, Jeffrey Archer, Shashi Tharoor, and many more. It continues to expand its horizon with 16th consecutive published editions surrounding themes like Awakening, Reckoning, Allegiance, Resilience, Transcendence and others, depicting a powerful stance eternally.
