On March 2nd, 2024, the Alzheimer's and Related Disorders Society of India (ARDSI) collaborated with the Centre for Gender Studies and Alumni Association of St. Xavier's College (Autonomous), Kolkata to conduct a workshop titled "Graceful Ageing: Honoring the Barriers...Celebrating LIFE" for the final-year students of the Raghabpur Campus. The resource persons from ARDSI, Ms. Nilanjana Maulik and Ms. Nivedita Saha, interacted with the students and raised awareness on various aspects related to dementia care, such as competencies, knowledge of dementia disorders, person-centered care, care interactions, enriching the person's life, understanding behaviors, and interacting with family members. The workshop was inaugurated by Rev. Fr. Johnson Padiyara, SJ, who expressed his gratitude to ARDSI for taking the initiative to fight against dementia and providing employment opportunities for those who want to serve humanity as healthcare professionals. After the workshop, Prof. Madumita Acharya gave a vote of thanks. The Alumni Association of the College sponsored refreshments for the students who attended the event. ARDSI plans to return to the Raghabpur Campus after the final semester exams to conduct two more workshops, providing training and employment opportunities for interested students.
