The Postgraduate Department of Education, St. Xavier’s College (Autonomous), Kolkata organised an invited lecture entitled ‘Fostering Emotional Intelligence Among Adolescents: Strategies for Teachers’ on 9/8/24 in the Seminar Hall of the department.Dr. Anuttama Banerjee, a reputed Clinical Psychologist was the resource person who discussed a plethora of scenarios, causes, ethical considerations and possible approaches to tackle emotional and psychological turbulence in school children by way of empathy and confrontation of conflict. She led a dynamic discussion into the impressionable nature of the formative years of a child’s life and how a teacher’s role in it can greatly influence their experience when confronted with a critical event in their life.
The floor, thereafter, was opened to the students and faculty members for questions. Dr. Banerjee clarified the queries raised by both students and faculty members with tangible solutions and strategies.
