St. Xavier's College (Calcutta) Alumni Association (SXCCAA) in association with the Department of Health and Family Welfare, Govt. of West Bengal organized a Mega Medical Health and Eye-checkup camp for the students and boarders of Premananda Ashram Boarding School, Chamrusai, Paschim Medinipur on Sunday 1st September, 2024. More than 700 beneficiaries attended the mega camp featuring several medical departments like pediatrics, gastro, pathology, chest medicine, eye and general medicine. Rev. Dr. Dominic Savio, SJ, Principal, St. Xavier's College (Autonomous) Kolkata and President, SXCCAA graced the occasion as the Chief Guest of the event and blessed the gathering accompanied by Jesuit Fathers of St. Xavier's Community and Alumni members. The health checkup camp was indeed a necessity for the inmates of this remote residential school and was well appreciated by the parents of the students who attended the camp.
Notably, the camp was conducted by around 40 Doctors, 20-25 Health Worker and 30 Nursing Staff under the supervision of members of philanthropic committee of SXCCAA.
Rev. Father Principal distributed game kits for the students of the school, handed over rations and food items for the residents of the Ashram which was donated by SXCCAA members. Rev. Dr. Joseph Kulandai, Rev. Fr. Anil Gomes and Rev. Fr. M. S. Arokoswamy also attended the program to bless the gathering from Kolkata and Rev. Fr. Jose Pulikal, Fr. Anbu Raj and Fr. Sebastian Xalxo from Premananda Ashram Boarding School, Chamrusai played key roles in well organization and execution of the event.
