Rev. Dr. Dominic Savio SJ, Principal of St. Xavier's College (Autonomous), Kolkata presided over the valedictory session of a week-long NSS Special Camp 2024 organized by Department of Social Work of the College under National Service Scheme-1 & 2 in collaboration with Unnat Bharat Abhiyan Cell at Raghabpur Campus of the College. The Camp was organized from 24th October 2024 to 30th October 2024 at Paikhala Primary School, Village Paikhala, Bishnupur-1 Block, Andhramanik Gram Panchayat, West Bengal with the theme: The Digital Generation - Strengths and Challenges and was attended by more than 100 children from various schools located in the villages around the College, being facilitated by 40 NSS Volunteers.
Rev. Dr. Dominic Savio SJ greeted all the participants and volunteers who made this camp a memorable one. In his speech, Rev. Father emphasized the essence and experience of philanthropy and community development which all the Xaverians should inculcate amongst themselves as group builders - as a part of their livelihood. Notably, Festivities are all about spreading joy, sharing the light of knowledge and wisdom, and Xaverians have always been the trendsetters in such practices under the able guidance of Father Principal. Father Principal also acknowledged the wholehearted participation of Alumni members especially Firdausul Hasan, Secretary SXCCAA and Yogesh Chopra, Convenor of Philanthropy Commitee of SXCCAA for their selfless contributions.
The valedictory session was attended by Rev. Dr. Peter Arockiam SJ, Vice Principal of Commerce Evening, Rev. Dr. Joseph Kulandai SJ, Vice Principal of Commerce Morning, Ms. Cheryl Francis, Director of Social Work, Mr. Sanjib Koner, Former Secretary of St. Xavier's College (Calcutta) Alumni Association, other fathers, and professors, namely Ms. Sucheta Mukherjee, NSS Coordinator, Prof. Tuhin Chitrakar, Prof. Subhra Pratim Roy and other support staff of the College, dignitaries, benefactors, and facilitators of the camp and members of SXCCAA namely Ranoj Mukherjee, Dipan Das, Vineet Jain, Sambit Dutta and Jony Joseph Patra.
