Ripples of Hope: SXCCAA Deccan Chapter Philanthropy Drive at Hyderabad
On Sunday, 20th September 2026, as part of the SXCCAA Deccan Chapter Meet, members of the St. Xavier's College (Calcutta) Alumni Association carried out a heartwarming philanthropy drive under the banner of "Ripples of Hope" at St. Jude India ChildCare Centre in Begumpet, Hyderabad. The centre serves as a caring haven for over thirty children aged 0 to 15 bravely battling cancer alongside their parents, with an adjacent facility housing another sixty terminally ill children. Led by Chief Guest Rev. Dr. Dominic Savio, SJ, Principal of St. Xavier’s College (Autonomous), Kolkata and President of SXCCAA, the visiting delegation included Honorary Secretary Sanjib Koner, Deccan Chapter Coordinator Rakesh Singhania, Ranoj Mukherjee, and Upasana Law.
Following full compliance with St. Jude’s Child Protection and POSH safety policies, the team spent meaningful time interacting with the families and distributed essential rations, hygiene kits, and creative supplies, including a large pack of Surf Excel, bottles of Dettol, bananas, sweet lemons, apples, papaya, packs of A4 paper, packs of whiteboard markers, and boxes of crayons.
Addressing the gathering, Rev. Dr. Dominic Savio, SJ, shared an inspiring message: "True to our Xaverian calling of being men and women for and with others, our presence here today is a reminder that even the smallest act of kindness can ignite boundless hope. These brave young children teach us profound courage and resilience. As an institution and an alumni fraternity, our mission goes far beyond academic excellence - it lives in walking alongside those who suffer, sharing their burdens, and letting love and empathy create ripples of hope and healing and light in their lives."
