The following programs were organized by the Department of Statistics during the academic session July 2022 – June 2023:

Invited Talk:

• Prof. Soutir Bandyopadhyay Director of Graduate Studies Department of Applied Mathematics and Statistics Colorado School of Mines delivered an invited talk on Wendland Meets Markov: Kriging For Large Spatial Data on 15th July2022.
  

  
• Prof. Bikas Kumar Sinha Retired Professor Indian Statistical Institute delivered an invited talk on FANCY LIFE OF A SMART GAMBLER and OH CAPTAIN! MY CAPTAIN on 13th September 2022.
  

  
• Prof. Bikas Kumar Sinha Retired Professor Indian Statistical Institute delivered an invited talk on RIFLE INSPECTION PROBLEM: EASIER TO STATE (THE ISSUE) THAN TO RESOLVE (THE SAME) on 13th September 2022.
  
• Professor Anil Kumar Ghosh from the Statistics and Mathematics Unit Indian Statistical Institute delivered an invited talk on An Introduction to Statistical machine learning on 2nd March2023.
  
• Mr. Satyaki Bhattacharya Director-Emerging Tech Practice in Adamas Tech Consulting has delivered an invited talk on Analytics- The Art behind the science on 2nd March 2023.
  
• The Department conducted the 2023 version of its Annual program Epsilon Delta on March 2nd 2023. The program commenced with the launch of the 15th edition of the Departmental Magazine Prakarsho. The following programs were organized through the day:

  2. Science quiz -Inquizzitive
  3. Data visualization event- Analyticon
  4. Hackathon event based on a statistical theme –Datathon
  5. Poster-making competition –Imposter
  6. Photography competition –Focinova
  7. Cultural program by the students of the Department.
