The student will have a wide knowledge of British and New Literatures in English including their most contemporary aspects.
The student will have a thorough grounding in literary and critical theory and the basic principles of research methodology.
The student will have developed a multi-disciplinary approach to reading literary texts.
The student will be sensitized to the possibilities of alternate readings of texts including perspectives offered by gender, postcolonial and critical race theory.
The student will have acquired the critical and analytical skills to pursue independent research.
