Prof. Rajib Choudhury has edited thirteen books published by Bhashabandhan Prakashani, Dey’s Publisher, Pascimbanga Rajya Pustak Parshad and Spark Books. Choudhury authored his book on literary historiography and Bangla literature, published by Jadavpur University. He also wrote a monograph on Bangla Literary translations of 20th century, published by Spark books. He has delivered several invited lectures in Paschimbanga Bangla Academy, Sahitya Academy, Dept. of Comparative Indian Literature, CU and Dept. of Bengali, JU. More than fifty articles were published in newspapers, literary journals, as chapters of books: focusing mainly on different authors and their literary works, intertextuality, Literary Historiography, linguistics and structural analysis of Bangla literature. He also contributed chapters in text book published by Govt. of West Bengal. He taught as a visiting faculty in: 1. Department of Comparative Literature, Jadavpur University,2. Department of Bangla, P.G Evening, Jadavpur University,3. P.G Bangla, Lady Brabourn College. 4. P.G Bangla, Ashutosh College. 5.Dept. of Comparative Indian Literature, Calcutta University. He was a member of publishing committee of Pascimbanga Rajya Pustak Parshad and was a subject expert of the BOS of Bangla Department of Ramakrishna Mission, Narendrapur. He is serving as a professor in the Department since 1998.


Dr. Madhumita Bhattacharya Roy is the seniormost professor of this department. She has attended innumerable seminars, conferences and workshops and has presented papers in national symposiums. She completed UGC Minor Research Project with the title ‘Smriti Srutir Katha Album: Sekal Ekaler Sat Kahan’ in 2012. She has taken lecture classes in Jadavpur University as a part of research Programme (UGC NET) during 1987-1992. She has also taken PG classes in Presidency College in 2009 and in Jogmaya Devi College in March 2017-June 2018.


Dr. Shruti Goswami is in this Department since 2014. She has been awarded her Ph.D. thesis on November 2019. She has contributed fifteen research articles in ISSN journals, fourteen chapters in different ISBN books, edited a book and authored a book till date. She served as a visiting faculty in the PG distance course in offered by Kalyani University. She has been invited by the Raghabpur Campus of St. Xavier’s College to present a lecture demonstration to the PG class. She has completed a 4-week Faculty Induction Programme from Ramanujan College, University of Delhi and MHRD in June 2020. She has also completed a 2-week Interdisciplinary Refresher Course from Comparative Indian Language & Literature, University of Calcutta in February 2021. She has given a number of lectures as a Resource-person invited by some reputed organizations and institutions like Berhampore Girls’ College, Ramkrishna Mission Shikshanmandira, AIR or Akashbani Kolkata, Tagore Research Institute, and Alumni Association, University of Delhi. Dr. Goswami has keen interest in Women’s Literature, Women’s Studies, Comics and Graphic Novels, Musicology. She herself is a performer in vocal music; she has appeared on numerous stages and web-stages nationwide.


Dr. Tapas Saha joined this department in 2015. Having 5 years of experience in the publication industry he has expertise in Book Making, History of Printing, editing & style. He has attended an Orientation Programme organized by University of Burdwan in March 2018 and a refresher course, organized by Dept. of Bengali, CU in September 2018. His book, ‘Bangla Sahitya Granthachitran: Tattwa, Prakaran O Itihas’ was published by Dia Publication in 2015. He has published six research articles and book chapters in different journals and books. He has completed a UGC funded Minor Research Programme in 2014. Dr. Saha is also conducting M.A Class & Ph.D Course Work Programme at Ramakrishna Mission Vidyamandira, Belur Math consistently.


Dr. Bodhisatwa Gupta joined this department in 2017. He was invited as a Guest Lecturer in the PG section of Bengali Department at Behala College, Kolkata and Nabagram Hiralal Paul College in 2019. He has published a few research papers as book chapters and articles in reputed journals. He has completed a 4-week Faculty Induction Programme from Ramanujan College, University of Delhi and MHRD in July 2020. He has also participated in several national and international seminars and webinars till date.


Dr. Sudakshina Basu

Dr. Sudakshina Basu joined the department in 2014. Her publications showcase her exploration of Bengali poetry and literary critique. She has authored many articles in international and UGC CARE listed journals like Ebong Mushayera and BL College Journal of Bangladesh.

Professor Sudakshina Basu has delivered a series of engaging lectures at Bijni College, Assam and Krishnanagar Govt. College. She was invited as a speaker in Centre for Gender Studies, St. Xavier's College (Autonomous), Kolkata, as a part of the FDP Programme. 

Dr. Basu participated in the Refresher Course in ‘Bangla Literary Theory’ in May-June 2022, organized by the UGC HRDC, North Bengal University.


Dr. Debashis Bhattacharyya

Dr. Debashis Bhattacharyya has published one book named Bitasoke Bhattacharyar Kabita: Biksha O Sangbiksha from ‘Ebang Mushaayeraa’. He also published two monographs on Tagore’s Drama and another two on Bengali poetry. He has six research articles published in UGC-CARE listed journals. He delivered lectures as invited speaker in Midnapore College (Autonomous) and Bethune College, Kolkata. He was involved in examination related works in various Universities and Colleges. His areas of interest are Tagore literature, Bengali Poetry & Imagery, and Folklore.


Dr. Rini Gangopadhyay 

Dr. Rini Gangopadhyay is in this Department since 2016. She has contributed many research articles in ISSN journals, and authored 4 books till date. She has completed a 4-week Faculty Induction Programme from North Bengal University in 2018. She has also completed a 2-weeks Refresher Course from Jadavpur University in 2019. She is well known in Bengali literary field. She has keen interest in historiography and modern poetry. 


Dr. Madhumita Acharya 

Dr. Madhumita Acharya joined this department in 2016. She has been awarded her PhD degree in December 2011 from Jadavpur University. She has published three books; one is research oriented; others portray her as poet and writer. She contributed many research papers as book chapters. She has completed a 4-weeks Faculty Orientation Programme from HRDC, Burdwan University and 2-weeks Refresher course from HRDC, Gauhati University. She has also participated in several National and International seminars and webinars till date. She is an elocutionist and served thirteen years as an anchor in All India Radio, FM Gold and FM Rainbow.


Dr. Subrata Sinha

Subrata Sinha (Ph.D., Comparative Literature, Jadavpur University, 2015) is teaching at the Raghabpur Campus of the College since January 2018. He addresses the areas of Modernity and Modernisms in the context of Bangla Literature, Culture, Politics and their intersections with Literature in the Post-Independence Bengal (East and West), Literary and Aesthetic Theories, and Folklore. He also supervises Post-Graduate and Under-Graduate dissertations in said areas. 

Dr. Sinha has published a monograph, Adhunikatar Kavyatattva o Sudhindranath Datta (Jadavpur University Press, Kolkata 2019), and jointly edited Literary Discourse in Bangla (Routledge, Oxon and New Delhi 2022) with Subha Chakraborty Dasgupta. He has also published essays and articles in journals like Bangla Bibhagiya Patrika, Jadavpur University, Ebang Mushayera and Bhashabandhan, and has contributed to an edited volume dedicated to Sankha Ghosh. Subrata has also delivered invited lectures for several international and national seminars and served as a resource person on Archival issues for courses and workshops for teachers and scholars, and for research programmes. He is a visiting faculty for the Post-Graduate Certificate Course in Digital Humanities and Cultural Informatics, at the School of Cultural Texts and Records, Jadavpur University.

Sinha’s current academic interests include Modernist literary, artistic and cultural transactions, Translation Studies, Folklore and Aurality, Audio Preservation, Archival Studies, Buddhist Studies, and the questions of Gender, Caste and Intersectional and Marginal identities and Communities in contemporary Indian polity. He has attended a Faculty Induction Programme (2022) and a Refresher Course in Gender and Society (2022) offered by the UGC-HRDC, North Bengal University and participated in two Short-Term Courses in ‘Buddhist Logic’ (2019) and ‘Vijnanavada: Its Origin and Development’ (2023), at the Centre for Buddhist Studies, Jadavpur University, Kolkata.

Subrata Sinha is an ordinary member of The Asiatic Society, Kolkata (since 2022) and a Member of the Academic Committee of the Centre for Buddhist Studies, Jadavpur University, Kolkata (since 2023). 


Dr. Saswati Roy 

Dr. Saswati Roy joined the Postgraduate & Research Department of Bengali at St. Xavier's College (Autonomous), Kolkata in 2019. She received her Ph.D. in Bengali from Bhasha Bhabana, Visva-Bharati in 2022, with a specialization in kulajishastra and the social history of colonial Bengal. Her research interests also include genealogy and family history, Punch magazines, periodicals in colonial Bengal, and Nineteenth Century Bengali literature and culture. 

 

She has published eleven research articles in ISSN journals, UGC-CARE listed journals, and international journals like Anustup, Parichay, Aitihya, Bangla Bibhagiya Patrika, Jadavpur University, Journal of Humanities, Lady Brabourne College, Itihas Prabandhamala, Itihas Academy Dhaka. She has also contributed four book chapters to different ISBN books published by Paschimbanga Rajya Pustak Parshat, Dey's Publishing, and Doshor. In 2018, she translated Romila Thapar’s Time as a Metaphor of History: Early India, which was published by Oxford University Press. Dr. Roy has attended numerous national and international workshops, symposiums, and seminars. She has also delivered invited lectures at Ramakrishna Mission Residential College (Autonomous), Kolkata, Kazi Najrul University, Asansol, Jadavpur University, and Akashvani Kolkata. In August 2023, she was invited as a speaker at the Rabisandhya, National Council of Education, Jadavpur University to deliver the ‘Mokshada Memorial Lecture’. She also worked as a research assistant and project coordinator of two government projects undertaken by Paschimbanga Bangla Akademi in 2018-2019.

 

Dr. Roy participated in the Inter-Disciplinary Refresher Course titled ‘Interdisciplinary Studies and Bengali Discipline’ in November-December 2022, organized by the UGC HRDC, Jadavpur University. She has also attended several Faculty Development Programmes and completed a 4-week Faculty Induction Programme (Guru Dakshta) in July-August 2023, organized by the UGC HRDC Jadavpur University. She has completed sixteen weeks certificate course on Some Fundamental Concepts of Indian Philosophy in 2022 organised by Ramakrishna Mission Institute of Culture, Golpark, Kolkata. She is an ordinary member of The Asiatic Society, Kolkata since 2022. 


Dr. Arundhati Das 

Dr. Arundhati Das joined the department in 2019. She has been awarded PhD degree in 2023 from the Department of Bengali, Jadavpur University. Her research area is psycholinguistics. She publishes two bilingual peer reviewed journals annually as editor. She has eight publications in international and UGC CARE listed journals and has contributed three book chapters. She has written many articles for ‘Shikshadarpan’, the journal published from the Department of Education, Govt. of West Bengal and ‘Kolkata Purashree’, a magazine of Kolkata Municipal Corporation, Govt. of West Bengal. She has edited one book titled Jamidar Darpan.She has delivered several invited lectures in Delhi University, Akashbani Kolkata, Sampreeti Academy and presented papers in conferences organized by Berhampore Girls’ College and Bharatiya Bhasha Samiti. She regularly writes for many Bengali newspapers and dailies. 

 

She worked as an editorial assistant in a Project entitled publication of Satyaji Ray Centenary Commemoration Volume undertaken by ‘Kolkata Purashree’, a magazine of Kolkata Municipal Corporation, Govt. of West Bengal and also in a Project entitled publication of Vidyasagar Bicentenary Commemoration Volume undertaken by the Dept. of Education, Govt. of West Bengal. Presently she is the member of the editorial committee of the Department of Journalism & Mass Communication, Central University of Orissa, Koraput.

 

Dr. Das participated in the Inter-Disciplinary Refresher Course in Linguistics (Inter-disciplinary) in May-June 2022, organized by the UGC HRDC, NEHU (North-Eastern Hill University.


Dr. Surojit Behara 

Dr. Surojit Behara is in this Department since 2021. He has been awarded his PhD degree in the year of 2022. He has contributed thirteen research papers in reputed journals and authored three books till date. Dr. Behara is also associated with Rabindra Bharati University, DDE in the Dept. of Bengali as a visiting faculty. His areas of interest are Comparative Sociology, Folklore and Literature and Theory of Literature.


Prof. Shriya Dutt 

Prof. Shriya Dutt joined Bengali department in 2021. She has published a few research papers as book chapters and articles in reputed journals. She also participated in several national and international seminars and webinars till date. She was invited as a counsellor in the PG section of School of Humanities at Netaji Subhas Open University.
