Dr. Tinni Goswami
Dr. Tinni Goswami has done her Masters in History and PhD on "˜Public Health and Sanitation in Colonial Bengal, 1880-1947 from Jadavpur University, India. She is an Assistant Professor in the Postgraduate & Research Department of History at St. Xavier's College (Autonomous) in Kolkata, India. She was also the Coordinator for the Centre for Gender Studies at her college and a Guest Faculty in the Postgraduate Department of History at Rabindra Bharati University.
Dr. Goswami earned her JRF from the Indian Council of Historical Research from 2006-2008 and was a Fellow of The Asiatic Society, Kolkata from 2010-2013. She worked as a UGC Research Associate at the Womens Studies Research Centre, University of Calcutta from 2013-2014.
Currently, she is working with the Bhaktivedanta Research Center, India on a project titled "˜Locating the Contributions of Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Thakur and Saraswat Chatuspathi in the Field of Hindu Astrology in Colonial Bengal: A Case Study based on the Vaishnava Periodicals and Almanacs. She worked as a Curriculum Developer for Mukti Group, Kolkata for the project, Adhigam Bhoomi.
Additionally, Dr. Goswami is the Coordinator of the Massive Open Online Courses (MOOC) on Research Methodology in History, Delhi Sultanate and Mughal India. These courses are under the Swayam portal by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), Government of India. She acted as a Resource Person for several MOOC Courses on Environmental Sociology, Early Medieval India, the History of China, and India after independence.
She has several international publications including Palgrave Macmillan and Cambridge Scholars Publishing. She is also working on fat studies in India and presented a paper at Birkbeck, University of London in July 2023. She is working on a book as a co-author on women and orature and recently contributed two chapters on public health in modern India.

Dr. Debarati Ganguly
Dr Debarati Ganguly is currently working as the assistant professor and coordinator in the Postgraduate department of History, St. Xavier's College (Autonomous), Kolkata. Her research area focuses on the Historiography of India and South-East Asia Relation and she has obtained her Ph.D degree from University of Calcutta in the year 2021. She secured Highest Marks in the B.A. History Hons. Examination from Lady Brabourne College, University of Calcutta and obtained her M.A. in History from University of Calcutta. She has passed UGC NET in 2013 and was granted The University Research Fellowship. From 2013-2017 (JRF & SRF). She has pursued six months course on Cultural Heritage and Museum Studies organized by Indian Museum in 2012. Dr. Ganguly has completed Refresher Course from Mizoram University on History and Archaeology from 31st August- 13th September 2021 and Faculty Induction Programme from 05th July-01st August, 2022, from Mizoram University. She has attended numerous national and international level workshops on various aspects of History organized by Asiatic Society, Department of A.I.H.C., University of Calcutta, Department of History, W.B.S.U, Ramakrishna Sarada Mission Vivekananda Vidyabhavan, St Xavier's College (Autonomous), Kolkata, Department of History, University of Hyderabad and Department of History, MANUU. Since 2023, she has been serving as the member of the Executive Committee of the Indian Association for Asian and Pacific Studies, an organization taking interest in different kinds of academic endeavours on Asia and Pacific regions.
Dr. Debarati Ganguly has participated in several national and international seminars. She was the invited speaker in the National Seminar on "˜Early India and Cambodia: Exploring Avenues of Linkages organized by the Department of A.I.H.C, University of Calcutta on 15th March 2019. She has presented papers in the international conferences organized by the Indian History Congress in the years 2021 & 2022 and South Indian History Congress in 2023. She has participated and presented paper in the international conference on "˜Asia Pacific from Past to Present: Bonding and Challenges jointly organized by Indian Association for Asian and Pacific Studies and ASEAN Studies Centre, Chulalongkorn University, Bangkok, Thailand in 2022. Research Papers and Book Chapters have been published in edited volumes and UGC Care Listed journals and journals containing I.S.B.N and I.S.S.N numbers. Dr. Ganguly has been awarded best paper prize for two times by Pashchimbanga Itihas Samsad.
Prof. Arka Deb Banerjee
Arka Deb Banerjee graduated with a Honours in History from Jadavpur University in 2010. He completed his M.A. in History from Jadavpur University in 2012. He completed his MPhil in history from The Centre for Studies In Social Sciences, Calcutta in 2014. He is currently pursuing his PhD in History from The Centre for Studies In Social Sciences, Calcutta. He has presented papers at international seminars and has several publications. His areas of interest are history of modern Calcutta, history of famine relief policy and history of modern Europe. He has recently delivered 26 MOOC lectures at the EMRC on the following papers: Research Methodology in History, History of India (c750 - 1206), History of India (1206-1550), History of India (1550 - 1605). He has presented a paper entitled British Famine Policy and Local Initiatives: Experiencing the Famine of 1896-97 in Bengal at the Two-Day National Level Seminar on Revisiting the Intellectual History of Indian Struggle for Independence: Decoding the Debates and Discourses Emphasizing the Importance of Thoughts and Actions organised by Maulana Abul Kalam Azad Institute of Asian Studies, Kolkata (MAKAIAS) in collaboration with the Department of Education, St. Xavier's College (Autonomous), Kolkata in 2022. He has acted as external resource person and delivered lectures on the history of ancient Greek science at Hiralal Mazumdar Memorial College for Women, Dakhineswar. He has participated in numerous workshops and faculty developmental programs including a Seven Day International Faculty Development Program on Bengal Studies Through the Ages with Special Emphasis on Gender Centric Approaches, 4th to 10th April 2022 and Seven Day International Faculty Development Program on The Nuances of Scientific Writing and Publishing, 11th to 19th July 2022.
Dr. Sarbajit Mitra
Sarbajit Mitra currently working as an assistant professor in the Department of History at St. Xavier's College (Autonomous), Kolkata. He completed his PhD from SOAS, University of London in 2023, with his doctoral research focusing on the social and medical history of intoxicants in nineteenth-century India. Over the past two years, Sarbajit has presented his research at conferences and workshops hosted by the Centre for Medical Humanities at the University of Oxford, the School of History, Religions and Philosophies, SOAS and the Department of History at Goldsmiths College, London. Engaged in public outreach, he has contributed articles on various topics related to medical, visual, and sports history to platforms such as the British Library South Asia Blog, scroll.in, thewire.in, daakbangla.com, and the Bangla little magazine Harappa. Sarbajit has also curated works and delivered illustrated lectures on print culture and book history for the Delhi Art Gallery.
Dr. Arnab Bera
Dr. Arnab Bera is currently working as the part time lecturer in the postgraduate department of History, St. Xavier's College (Autonomous), Kolkata. He has graduated with a Honours in History from Midnapore College in 2009. He completed his M.A. in History from Jadavpur University in 2011 and obtained his MPhil degree in history from Rabindra Bharati University in 2015. He has completed his Ph.D in History from Rabindra Bharati University in 2022. Dr. Bera has presented papers at various seminars and published papers in several journals. His areas of interest are history of science, environmental history and history of popular culture.
Dr. Pragati Bandyopadhyay
Dr. Pragati Bandyopadhyay is currently serving as the Part-Time lecturer in the Postgraduate department of History.
She Completed "Research Training Programme" in CENTRE FOR STUDIES IN SOCIAL

Prof. Ashesh Kumar Dhar
Ashesh Kumar Dhar is faculty at Department of History, St Xavier's College, Raghabpur Campus, He is pursuing PhD from Department of History at University of Hyderabad. His research interests lie in Borderlands, Agrarian studies and environmental histories. He is pursuing his PhD research on the Reclaiming the Rural: Liminalities and Politics in Eighteenth Century India in the political backdrop of the Anglo-Gorkha borderland relations in Eastern India. Parts of his thesis have been presented as Panel papers/individual papers at select National/ International seminars/conferences. He was Chair for the panel "˜Multitudes of the Social in South Asia at the Hong Kong University Annual Symposium 2023.He has been associated as Research Assistant with Leibniz Zentrum Moderner Orient (ZMO); Berlin, his role has been researching archives for the project "˜Timely Histories: A Social History of Time in South Asia.
Students of both UG and PG departments are engaged in different academic and extracurricular activities. They enthusiastically participate in NSS programs and various college events. Many ex students are now pursuing their higher studies in different universities including University of Calcutta, Jadavpur University and Rabindra Bharati University. Some ex-students have been employed in various organizations including Tata Consultancy Service.
