Scope
This program is a comprehensive, application-oriented program designed to provide participants with the technical knowledge and analytical skills required in today’s data-driven world. The course introduces learners to the entire data science workflow — from data collection, cleaning, and preparation to analysis, visualization, machine learning, and AI-driven insights.
Students will gain hands-on experience with tools, programming languages, and platforms used in the industry. The program places a strong emphasis on real-world applications, ethical considerations in AI, and communication of data insights to support business decision-making and strategic innovation.
By the end of the program, students will be equipped to take on roles in data analytics, data science, machine learning engineering, and business intelligence across sectors such as finance, healthcare, e-commerce, consulting, and technology.
Course Objective
The objective of the Postgraduate Diploma in Data Science & Analytics is to develop data-literate professionals equipped with analytical thinking, technical skills, and domain knowledge to extract insights and drive data-informed decisions. The program aims to:
Provide a strong foundation in data science tools and technologies, including big data frameworks and cloud computing platforms.
Enable proficiency in statistical methods and data analysis techniques essential for interpreting and solving real-world business problems.
Train students in data preparation, transformation, and exploration, ensuring readiness for advanced analytics and machine learning applications.
Build skills in data visualization and dashboard development, facilitating effective communication of analytical findings to diverse stakeholders.
Introduce core and advanced machine learning algorithms, preparing students to develop predictive and prescriptive models.
Expose learners to emerging technologies such as Generative AI, enhancing their ability to innovate using cutting-edge artificial intelligence techniques.
Foster an understanding of the ethical, legal, and societal implications of data use, promoting responsible and secure data practices.

Eligibility Criteria
Final degree appeared or graduates in any discipline from a recognized university.
Please note the candidate appeared for final year degree is required to mention combined marks for previous Semester/Year. Students with arrears or supplementary papers are not eligible.

Diploma
Diploma will be given after the successful completion of both the semesters jointly by St. Xavier’s College (Autonomous), Kolkata and FinX Institute Limited (Formerly known as BSE Institute Limited)
A student must obtain a minimum of 75% attendance in all papers/subjects separately. A student who has between 60% and 74% attendance on grounds of illness or any other unavoidable circumstance will have to seek condonation from the Prof-in-Charge of COP. Without the condonation the student will not be allowed to appear for the examination.
